Writing in the dark

I’m writing in the dark
I am blind to the pages and their meaning
I am writing for you and what it means
You never see what my words are worth
I never see your hurt
I can’t see you
I write on blank pages that remain empty
I am blind to how to make it better
I’ve tried so hard and now I’m hollow
How to make you smile is now beyond me
You always cry
I remember when it was not so
I am blind to your needs
I just don’t understand
One minute the mountain is climbed
The next we’re heading down
I’m always writing in the dark
Why don’t you show me the light?
You insist on shadows in order to see
Your fog impedes my understanding
I can’t write in the dark
