Trapped in your past

Trapped in your past

I heard last week that you found love
The knife in my heart leaves no blood
The pain is a past pleasure
My heart skips a beat for a moment
My heart stops for a lifetime
The pain is twenty years old
The pain happened yesterday
Your words still hold meaning
No matter the new love, I question
I just don’t know the answer
The sweet cut of your emotions
The lies you told me still bind
I am bound
My prison is self imposed
My sentence will never end
I am judge and jury
I am stuck with a life sentence
I can’t even ask you to release me
You have already let me go
